ICSHL: Walker, Richman Quadruple Up In Demon Domination

Newark, Del. — Matching four-goal efforts from Christo Walker and Blake Richman were the driving force behind Kennett’s (2-2-2) 10-0 rout of Marple-Newtown (0-3-0) on Monday night (Nov. 26) at the Patriot Ice Center.

The Blue Demons dominated the entire contest, outshooting the Tigers 44-7, easily beating defencemen to generate scoring chances, and disrupting the Marple-Newtown breakout with regularity. On multiple occasions, Walker carried the puck past multiple Tiger defenders on his way to the goal.

After Walker accounted for both of the Blue Demons’ first-period tallies, he and Richman combined to pot five of Kennett’s seven second-period goals, outshooting the Tigers 24-4 during that stretch as well. Evan Shinn earned his first scholastic goal at 7:04 in the second period with a net-front rebound put-back, while Jacob DellaVecchia accounted for the other Kennett goal in the middle frame.

Up 9-0 through two periods, Kennett took advantage of a Max DiCola roughing minor 46 seconds into the third to conclude the game early. Twenty-five seconds into the lone Kennett power play, Richman lofted a rebound chance over Marple-Newtown goalie Dominic Mandell from the right edge of the crease to invoke the 10-goal mercy rule.

Walker and Hayden Ibarra-Blomgren both had three assists for the Demons while Richman and Matthew Giovannini each added a pair of helpers. Tyler Richman earned a seven-save shutout.

Kennett returns to action on Thursday (Nov. 29), when they face Harriton at the Havertown (Pa.) Skatium.

In other action:

Appoquinimink 4, Sun Valley 1

A pair of goals from Shane Hindt propelled the Appoquinimink Jaguars (2-2-0) over Sun Valley (1-2-0), 4-1, also at the Patriot Ice Center. Both Paul Army and Nathan Panchisin added a goal and an assist for Appoquinimink, while Jonny Schwarz offered two assists. Dylan Hadley recorded 18 saves in victory.

Appoquinimink next faces off against Salesianum next Monday (Dec. 3).
