NEWARK, Del. — Eleven months after clinching the 2020 Delaware Cup, the Salesianum hockey team made their return to Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League competition a winning one, trouncing Bux-Mont Catholic, 9-0, in their 2021 season opener on Friday (Feb. 5) at the Patriot Ice Center.
Sophomore winger Michael Masci impressed in his varsity debut for Salesianum, recording the primary assist on goals from linemates Chris Albert and Johnny Lee in the first period and then scoring two of his own in the second period. The Sals’ attack was sustained and balanced, with middle-six forwards Matt Bellopede, Trevor Stimmel and Aaron Onesi recording a goal apiece, as well as defencemen Jake Ehrlich and Jack Clark.
Mike Manzi and Aiden Kikut teamed up in net for an eight-save shutout for the Sals; Bux-Mont goalie Carson Schroding stopped 40 of 49 shots faced.

On the shoulders of a six-goal performance from Will Ralsten, the St. Mark’s-Tower Hill Spartans improved to 2-1-0 with a 7-6 victory over Upper Moreland-New Hope. Jack Zungailia scored the Spartans’ other goal, Harry Jones and James Morrison recorded two assists each, and Jackson Kerstetter saved 34 of 40 shots in victory.
