Sals Beat D’Town West In OT

After 48 minutes of scoreless hockey and a flurry of 95 shots handled successfully by goalies Graham Burke and Eric West, it was the 96th shot of the game—off the stick of Salesianum captain Fisher Sellers—that gave his Sallies a hard-earned 1-0 win over Downingtown West 3:43 into overtime on Friday evening (Feb. 16) at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del.

Sellers, who returned to the Sallies’ lineup from an upper-body injury, finished a two-on-one attack, accelerating up the left-wing boards and crashing the net to backhand a Dylan Johnson pass from the right half-wall past Downingtown goalie Eric West with just over a minute left in the three-on-three overtime period.

Burke recorded a 51-save shutout between the pipes for the Sallies, who return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 20 against Unionville.  Air time on Delaware Hockey Night Radio is set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
