DHN Radio Weekend Preview

With the University of Delaware Division 2 and 3 teams both on extended road trips, Delaware Hockey Night Radio will focus solely on scholastic action this weekend.  The St. Mark’s Spartans hit the road to face Bishop Shanahan on Friday, while the Delaware Military Academy Seahawks conclude the weekend pair with a Monday night game at home against Boyertown.


The Spartans face off against the Bishop Shanahan Eagles for the first time on Friday evening (Jan. 12), with the two teams slated to square off at 8:00 p.m. at Ice Line in West Chester, Pa. The host Eagles, 1-5-3 on the season, defeated Perkiomen Valley 4-3 in their season opener for their first regulation win since Jan. 4, 2016. Meanwhile, the Spartans have been on a tear since joining the ICSHL South Division, completing the 2017 portion of their season with a 5-1-0 record and a 12-2 victory over Interboro in which Graham Kline and Patrick Swain both recorded hat tricks.

Air time on Delaware Hockey Night Radio is 7:45 p.m. Eastern.

While the Spartans head back to Ice Line on Monday (Jan. 15) in search of a season series sweep against St. Joseph’s Prep II, DHN Radio returns to The Pond Ice Arena in Newark, Del., where the Delaware Military Academy Seahawks (6-0-0) square off against the Boyertown Bears (5-3-0). DMA enters off a 6-4 win over Unionville in which Justin McGee accounted for two goals, Markus Cook registered a goal and three assists, and Anthony Guerrieri made 29 saves in victory.

Air time on DHN Radio is 7:30 p.m. Eastern, with faceoff scheduled for 7:45 p.m.

Elsewhere Around the Division: Interboro (3-2-1) and Msgr. Bonner (2-3-2) square off in a South Division matchup on Friday at IceWorks in Aston, Pa.; Oxford (0-11-0) faces off against Great Valley on Friday at Ice Line; St. Mark’s meets St. Joseph’s Prep II on Monday night at Ice Line.

In the DHSHL: The Delaware High School Hockey League (DHSHL) offers a full slate of six games this weekend, with all eight teams in action. On Friday at The Pond, Middletown (6-2-0) takes on Appoquinimink (8-0-1) at 6:30 p.m.; DuPont/Conrad (1-5-1) and Hodgson/Caravel (5-2-0) square off at 8:10 p.m., and Newark/Tatnall (8-0-1) faces Delco I (1-6-0) at 9:50. On Saturday, Appoquinimink and Newark/Tatnall meet at The Pond at 7:20 p.m., while Delco I hosts Harrington (0-8-1) at IceWorks at 9:30 p.m. The weekend wraps up with a Sunday evening game at The Pond between Hodgson/Caravel and Delco II (0-6-0) at 7:40 p.m.
