The Salesianum hockey team will advance directly to the semifinals of the 2018 Flyers Cup after their quarterfinal opponent Washington Township (N.J.) forfeited Tuesday evening’s (March 13) game.
The evening’s other quarterfinal tilt saw Kingsway Regional upset top-seeded Moorestown, 3-1, at Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J. After their 6-3 defeat of Appoquinimink in Monday’s (March 12) preliminary, the Dragons posted three unanswered goals to defeat Moorestown. Joe Bene, who led the Dragons to victory yesterday, assisted Vinnie Salerno on the game-winning goal 2:34 into the third period.
According to the Flyers Cup website, Wednesday evening’s (March 14) semifinal game at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del. will pit No. 2 Salesianum against No. 8 Kingsway Regional, while No. 4 Cherokee and No. 6 Eastern Regional, who both won their quarterfinals on Monday, will square off in Voorhees, N.J.
Salesianum’s Flyers Cup semifinal against Kingsway will air on Delaware Hockey Night Radio, with coverage to begin at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
