The Seahawks controlled all three zones and peppered Kennett goalie Morgan Cullen with 45 shots, while the first-line trio of Alex Maglio, Max Ruggerio, and Markus Cook teamed up for eight of their side’s 10 goals. Maglio, one of two Seahawk players with hat tricks on the night, opened the scoring at the 5:29 mark of the first period with a tap-in just above the crease before both Cook brothers—Markus and Lukas—found the back of the net in the thirteenth minute.
The DMA onslaught continued in the second period, and Markus Cook’s influence on the offence remained strong. The captain centre had a hand in all four second-period goals, starting with a centring pass to Ruggerio which led to a second-minute goal from the high slot to lift the Seahawks to a 4-0 lead. Maglio followed up with a one-timer from the right edge of the crease at 4:09 before Braeden Frost’s ninth-minute power-play goal came off the rebound of a Braedon Dougherty chance from the high slot. Markus Cook added a seventh goal for the Seahawks with 3:02 remaining in the middle period, catching Cullen out of position after she made an initial save and roofing the puck from the mid-slot for his 36th goal of the season, highest among all players in the ICSHL South Division.
A pair of Markus Cook assists in the third period increased his seasonal point total to 75, also tops in the South Division. The first such assist led to Ruggerio’s second goal of the night, an easy tap-in from the left edge of the crease only ten seconds in. Ruggerio completed his hat trick at 5:52 after carrying the puck into Kennett territory up the left-wing boards, crossing into the low slot, and finding the five-hole. Maglio iced his hat trick at the 9:16 mark, punching a Markus Cook feed into the net from right in front of the crease.
Kennett only mustered 20 shots on goal against DMA goalie Anthony Guerrieri, who earned his fourth shutout of the season while improving to 7-1-0.
