The Delaware Military Academy Seahawks exacted revenge on St. Mark’s in their second seasonal Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL) meeting, while Kennett held off a late flurry of chances from West Chester Henderson to claim victory.
Kennett 4, West Chester Henderson 3
Despite being outshot 30-22, the Kennett Blue Demons (6-7-0) were able to make the most of their opportunities—including both power plays—for a 4-3 victory over West Chester Henderson (4-11-1) at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del. Thomas Halsted had a hand in all four Demons goals, scoring two—including the eventual game winner 14:25 into the second—and assisting Jacob DellaVecchia on the other two. Dylan DeAngelo scored two of Henderson’s three goals, one each in the second and the third, while Tommy Valvano knocked Kennett’s lead down to a single goal with 3-1/2 minutes remaining. Morgan Cullen earned the win between the pipes for the Demons, stopping 27 of 30 shots faced.
Delaware Military Academy 10, St. Mark’s 1
After suffering a 5-0 shutout at the hands of the St. Mark’s Spartans on Jan. 26, the DMA Seahawks (11-2-0) bounced back in a big way to defeat St. Mark’s (9-3-0), 10-1, at the Patriot Ice Center. Alex Maglio and Max Ruggerio, both on the top line with centre Markus Cook, opened fire on goalie Giovanni Casagrande early, notching three goals in five shots over the first six minutes of the game. Casagrande, relieved by Billy Pierce after Ruggerio’s second goal put the Seahawks up 3-0, would be tabbed with the loss as the Spartans only managed a single goal. Kelly Stroik opened the second period with a power-play goal at 1:55, but DMA came back with seven unanswered goals. Ruggerio contributed another pair, while both Cook brothers—Markus and Lukas—found the back of the net twice each. Second-line winger Aaron Catron added a goal as well, while Julia Emerich recorded 22 saves in victory.
