Salesianum, Eastern To Meet In Flyers Cup Final

Salesianum and Eastern Regional are slated to square off in the 2018 New Jersey/Delaware Flyers Cup championship game on Friday evening (March 16) at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del.  The game, scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start, will air on Delaware Hockey Night Radio.

Salesianum secured home ice for the final game of the tournament with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Kingsway Regional on Wednesday (March 14).  Freshman Cam Bergeman accounted for the only Salesianum goal, while Graham Burke earned first-star honours with a 13-save shutout.

Eastern Regional topped Cherokee, 7-4, in the other semifinal.  The high-flying Max Kuznetsov, who scored five goals in the Vikings’ 10-0 rout of St. Mark’s in the quarterfinal round, added another quartet of goals over the Chiefs, bringing his 2018 Flyers Cup goal total to nine.

Last meeting: In their 2017 Flyers Cup semifinal matchup, Salesianum topped Eastern, 4-2.  Kuznetsov was held to zero points in the contest while Fisher Sellers accounted for a pair of Sals goals.  Salesianum advanced to defeat Moorestown, 7-0, in the 2017 championship game.
