ICSHL South Playoffs Set

Both new teams in the Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL) South Division advanced to this year’s postseason, while the Delaware Military Academy Seahawks seek a repeat divisional title as the top seed in the four-team knockout tournament which begins Monday (Feb. 26).

(1) Delaware Military Academy vs. (4) Monsignor Bonner

No. 1 seed DMA (13-3-0) will face off against the No. 4 seed Monsignor Bonner Friars (6-5-4) in the first semifinal, to be held Monday at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del.  The Seahawks, who swept the Friars in their pair of regular season matchups, are led by Markus Cook, the league’s top scorer with 40 goals and 44 assists, but he only contributed one of the Seahawks’ 13 goals against the Friars this season as part of a 6-1 victory on January 29.

(2) St. Mark’s Spartans vs. (3) Interboro Buccaneers

The No. 2 seed St. Mark’s Spartans (9-4-0) look for a third win over No. 3 seed Interboro (8-6-1) in Monday’s second semifinal, also to be contested at the Patriot Ice Center.  In regular season action, the Spartans routed the Bucs, 12-2 and 10-0.  St. Mark’s, who entered the ICSHL South after competing in the Delaware High School Hockey League (DHSHL) in previous seasons, brings a balanced offensive attack with two potent scoring lines and a two-way defenceman in captain Joey Centrone.

The game will air on Delaware Hockey Night Radio, with coverage to begin at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.

The semifinal winners will meet in the South Division championship game on Wednesday (Feb. 28), also to air on DHN Radio at 7:30 p.m.
