Kennett 5, St. Mark’s 4 (OT)
Down by two with a minute to go, the Kennett Blue Demons (9-4-2) mounted a monstrous late rally to upend the St. Mark’s Spartans (6-4-1), 5-4, at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del.
Short a man with 2:25 to go due to a cross-checking minor issued to leading scorer Christo Walker, captain Thomas Halsted spearheaded the Demons’ rally, putting back a short-handed goal with 57 left in regulation before assisting Jacob DellaVecchia on the game-tying goal in the final second. With 1:33 remaining in a three-on-three vertime, DellaVecchia completed a hat trick and sealed victory for Kennett.
Tyler Richman recorded 24 saves on 28 shots in victory, while Billy Pierce saved 40 of 45 shots in defeat.
Salesianum 7, Roman Catholic 2
Despite Roman Catholic (4-4-1) drawing first blood 40 seconds in, Salesianum (5-5-1) dug in and controlled much of the game from that point on, posting a 7-2 win at the Northeast Skate Zone in Philadelphia.
Patrick Kelly led Salesianum with a pair of goals, while Cam Bergeman, Logan Downs and Jack Brady accounted for a goal and an assist each. Kelly and Bergeman both registered-goals on a five-minute power play to put Salesianum out of reach after a 5-2 second intermission lead.
