DHN Radio Weekend Preview

A full slate of six games is on tap for Delaware Hockey Night Radio this weekend, including doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday and featuring the top two teams in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) women’s Division 2 ranks.

Friday, February 9 • Holy Ghost at Salesianum

The Salesianum Sallies get another crack at the Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds on Friday after suffering a 4-1 loss to them in December at Grundy Ice Arena in Bristol, Pa.  The Sallies, 4-8-0 in Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL) action this season after joining the tough Prep Division, remain winless in divisional play yet have turned in increasingly more credible efforts as the season has progressed.

Air time for coverage on DHN Radio from the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del. is 6:15 p.m. Eastern.

Friday, February 9 • Millersville at Delaware (D2)

The Delaware Blue Hens Division 2 men’s hockey team concludes their regular season on home ice with a return engagement against the Millersville Marauders, whom they defeated 10-5 in September in Lancaster, Pa.  The Hens, fresh off a 12-0 rout of Scranton, look to finish their regular season with 19 wins before heading to next week’s Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Conference tournament in Pennsauken, N.J.

Air time from Fred Rust Arena is slated for 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 10 and Sunday, February 11 • Liberty at Delaware (W)

Saturday and Sunday present a showdown of the two top-ranked East Region teams in ACHA women’s Division 2 action, as the Liberty Flames (11-2-0) visit the First State for a weekend series against the Blue Hens (16-1-0) after splitting a pair in Lynchburg, Va. in the fall portion of the season.  The Hens boast the strongest goaltender in all of women’s Division 2 hockey:  senior Emily Becker has compiled a 0.45 goals against average this season.

Saturday’s air time is 8:00 p.m., while Sunday’s coverage will begin at 3:15 p.m.

Sunday, February 11 • St. Mark’s at Msgr. Bonner

Sunday night action shifts to the Skatium in Havertown, Pa., where the Msgr. Bonner Friars (4-5-3) play host to the St. Mark’s Spartans (9-2-0) in a ICSHL South Division matchup.  This is the first meeting between the teams this season after they both defected from the Delaware High School Hockey League.  In their lone 2016-17 meeting, the Friars proved victorious, 3-1.  Connor Lewis backstopped the Msgr. Bonner side with a 25-save victory.

Coverage from the historic Skatium will commence at 7:45 p.m.

Monday, February 12 • DMA at Kennett

A six-game slate for DHN Radio this weekend wraps up Monday evening at the Patriot Ice Center, where the Kennett Blue Demons host defending ICSHL South Division champion Delaware Military Academy for the first time this season.  The DMA Seahawks took last season’s series with a 7-2 win over the Demons in February and a 9-9 tie in November of 2016.  Justin McGee led DMA with a hat trick in the last meeting between the teams, while Alex Maglio contributed two goals and Markus Cook one.

Monday’s programming is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
