DHN Radio Weekend Preview

The Delaware Military Academy Seahawks and the University of Delaware Division 2 men’s hockey team will both be in the spotlight on Delaware Hockey Night Radio this weekend, which offers a trio of games on air.

Friday, Jan. 26 • St. Mark’s at DMA

The Seahawks look to bounce back after their lone defeat of the season, a 7-2 loss to Salesianum last Friday (Jan. 19), when they face new Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL) South Division rivals St. Mark’s on Friday (Jan. 26) at the Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Del.  It will mark the first ICSHL meeting between the Seahawks and the Spartans, who both carry 7-1-0 overall records and are both undefeated in divisional play this season.  St. Mark’s seeks to maintain strong momentum after defeating the Hill School, 7-5, in a non-league matchup Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 24).

Air time on Delaware Hockey Night Radio is slated for 6:15 p.m. Eastern, with game time listed at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 28 • Rowan at Delaware (D2)

Delaware Hockey Night Radio’s flagship team, the University of Delaware Division 2 men’s hockey team, returns to the airwaves after spending their last two weekends on the road.  On Sunday afternoon (Jan. 28), the No. 8 Blue Hens (17-11-0) host the No. 7 Rowan Profs (9-12-0) in a Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Conference matchup.  They last squared off in the outdoor New Jersey Pond Hockey Classic exhibition at New Jersey’s Navesink Country Club, with Rowan winning, 7-3.  As far as the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) schedule is concerned, however, the Hens seek a season sweep of Rowan after Eric Birnberg recorded 49 saves in a 2-1 Delaware victory on Dec. 9 at Hollydell Ice Arena in Sewell, N.J.

Live coverage from the Fred Rust Arena in Newark, Del. will begin at 3:30 p.m. Eastern; faceoff is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 29 • Msgr. Bonner at DMA

DMA continues their homestand at the Patriot Ice Center on Monday (Jan. 29) for the second half of a season series with their other new ICSHL South rival, the Msgr. Bonner Friars (2-4-3).  The Seahawks won, 7-4, in their Dec. 8 meeting at IceWorks in Aston, Pa.  Junior winger Justin McGee, who is out for the remainder of the season, led DMA with a hat trick, while senior goalie Julia Emerich recorded 16 saves in victory.

Air time is 7:30 p.m.; game time is 7:40 p.m.
