ICSHL: Halsted’s OT Goal Lifts Kennett

A Thomas Halsted overtime goal 14 seconds into the extra frame secured a 3-2 win for the Kennett Blue Demons over the Harriton Rams in a chippy, back-and-forth game Friday night (Jan. 19) at the Patriot Ice Center (formerly the Pond Ice Arena) in Newark, Del.

Halsted’s overtime tally, with assists from Jacob DellaVecchia and Scott Dreisbach, was his second of the game after he opened the scoring in the fourth minute off a Taylor Cullen helper.  Third-line centre Kyle Robertson accounted for the other Kennett goal in the third minute of the second period.  In all, the Blue Demons peppered Harriton goalie Alex Krauss with 49 shots on goal.  Morgan Cullen, victorious in net for Kennett, stopped 26 of 28 shots in victory.

The Demons’ win over the Rams was their second such this season, after a 6-5 triumph at the Havertown Skatium in November.

Kennett, who improved to 5-5-0 with the win, will tackle Avon Grove on Monday (Jan. 22) at the Patriot Ice Center.  Live coverage on Delaware Hockey Night Radio will commence at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
